REDS 36″ Pipelay

Client: Cortez Subsea

Project: REDS 36″ Pipelay

Description: Engineering support on the installation of a 36″ pipeline and PLEM structure. Services provided as part of this scope:

  • Installation Analysis
  • Wet Buckle Head Design
  • Structural support for PLR and ancillary equipment
  • Rigging Design
  • Offshore Project Engineering

Project Overview

Elgenio provided engineering support for the installation of a 36" pipeline and associated PLEM structure.

The scope covered installation analysis, structural and equipment support, rigging design and offshore project engineering, supporting development of the installation methodology from engineering through offshore execution.

The Challenge

The installation scope required a number of separate engineering activities to be coordinated around the pipeline, PLEM structure and associated installation equipment.

Installation loads, temporary equipment, rigging arrangements and offshore handling requirements all had to be considered together to support a practical and executable offshore installation sequence.

Engineering Scope

  • Pipeline Installation Analysis
  • PLEM Installation Support
  • Wet Buckle Head Design
  • Structural Support for PLR & Ancillary Equipment
  • Rigging Design
  • Temporary Equipment Engineering
  • Installation Method Support
  • Offshore Project Engineering

The Solution

Elgenio developed the required installation engineering around the selected vessel, pipeline configuration and offshore installation methodology.

Installation analysis was used to define the governing loads and support the design of temporary equipment and rigging required for the campaign.

Structural support was provided for the PLR and associated ancillary equipment, while the wet buckle head and rigging arrangements were developed to suit the installation sequence and offshore handling requirements.

Offshore project engineering support was also provided to help coordinate the engineering requirements through project execution.

Results

Integrated Installation Engineering

Pipeline, PLEM, temporary equipment and rigging requirements were developed around a coordinated offshore installation methodology.

Defined Installation Loads

Installation analysis provided the load information required to support equipment, rigging and structural design.

Offshore Project Support

Engineering support continued through execution to assist coordination of the installation scope offshore.
