Project Overview
While providing project engineering services to Rever Offshore, Elgenio developed a technical animation to communicate the proposed installation sequence for a jacket brace repair clamp on the Thistle Platform.
The animation was developed as a practical engineering communication tool, allowing the project team and client representatives to review the proposed method visually before offshore execution.
The Challenge
Installation of the repair clamp involved a number of sequential offshore activities around an existing jacket brace, with equipment positioning, access and installation interfaces needing to be clearly understood by the wider project team.
Conventional drawings and written procedures could describe the individual activities, but were less effective at communicating the complete sequence and the interaction between the clamp, existing structure and installation equipment.
A clear visual overview was therefore required to support review of the proposed method during the project HIRA.

The Solution
The proposed installation method was converted into a technical animation showing the principal stages of the repair clamp installation and the relationship between the clamp, installation equipment and existing jacket structure.
The visual sequence provided a common reference for the engineering, offshore and client teams and allowed the complete method to be reviewed without relying solely on individual drawings or written procedure steps.
The animation was incorporated into the project HIRA to support discussion of the planned activities, interfaces and installation sequence.
