Project Overview
Elgenio developed the structural and foundation design for a 30 Te subsea winch intended for offshore deployment and operation on the seabed.
The winch was required to provide both pay-out and pay-in capability together with 360° rotational movement, with subsea operation through an ROV hot stab interface.
Design Requirements
The equipment had to provide a robust subsea structural arrangement capable of supporting the winch loads while remaining suitable for deployment, installation and operation on a range of seabed conditions.
The foundation arrangement therefore had to be developed around varying site conditions while maintaining suitable load distribution and overall stability.
Mechanical interfaces, structural framing and ROV access also had to be integrated into a compact arrangement suitable for subsea operation and fabrication.

The Solution
Elgenio developed an integrated structural and foundation arrangement around the operational requirements of the subsea winch.
The supporting frame and foundation were designed to distribute the operational loads into the seabed while accommodating the required 360° rotational capability and subsea mechanical interfaces.
The design was developed through to fabrication detail, providing the information required for manufacture and assembly of the complete subsea system.
Results
Integrated Subsea Design

The foundation design was developed to accommodate varying site conditions and provide suitable support for the winch loads.
